Day 93 Winslow Farms in Norton

If you are looking for way to spend Saturday on this Columbus day weekend, you should check out Winslow Farms in Norton. 

Winslow Farm will travel back to a time when craftsmen and craftswomen created amazing products from natural resources, using their own hands. This event will feature some of the best skilled local artisans:

Donald Weaver, of Weaver Chair Caning, who weaves antique chairs including, cane, rush and pressed cane seating as well as Shaker Tape weaving. Donald has past experience with hand weaving on floor looms; chair seat weaving is a pleasant extension of that craft.

Michelle Rogers, from Promising Hope Animal Sanctuary, will be demonstrating wool spinning.

Gary Krofta, from Norton, MA, makes attractive and functional handmade carrying vessels from tree bark.

Dave Proulx, is a Cooper, one who makes wooded staved vessels of a conical form, such as barrels, basks, buckets, etc. Dave will be making buckets by traditional methods using traditional tools of the colonial/federal era. Dave has over 20 years experience as a demonstrator at Old Sturbridge Village.

Steve Romanowiz and Annie Sugarman of Winslow Farm will be demonstrating organic (vegetarian) wood fire cooking.

There will also be colonial children’s games set up that kids can participate in. Admission is $10.00 for adults and $5.00 for children; kids under 2 are free. Snacks and drinks will be available for sale as well.

They will also have kid friendly haunted trails from   Noon – 3:30 pm on October 2 & 3, 9 & 10, 16 & 17 and 23 & 24.Also at night as well  

 6 pm – 8 pm on October 8 & 9, 15 & 16, 22 & 23 and *29, 30 & 31.

*(on October 29, 30 & 31, from 6 – 8 pm, there will be “Trick Or Treats” too!)

Winslow Farm Animal Sanctuary is a nonprofit animal reserve, owned and operated by Debra White. The sanctuary was established in 1996 for the care of abused and abandoned farm and exotic animals.

Visitors to Winslow Farm can receive a personal tour of the farm from a volunteer guide where they can walk the sanctuary’s peaceful surroundings among friendly llamas, emus, mini horses, goats, sheep, geese, pigs and much more.
