New Bedford loves to celebrate and each month they have a night celebrating their art and culture. For their July Aha night it is for kids! Best part it is FREE! Â
Join them  for the July 14th AHA! & see what unfolds when KIDS RULE Downtown New Bedford ! Hit the streets and enjoy a night jam-packed with summer sounds, hands on activities for the kid in all of us, scavenger hunts, a Solstice skate jam, plus unique shopping & good food at at our many boutique stores & eateries!  Check out all the details at Aha New Bedford  Â
New Bedford Whaling National Historical Park (33 William Street, 2nd floor of Corson Building)
• Build A Historic House with WHALE (Waterfront Historic Area LeaguE)! A fun, hands on children’s activity for kids of all ages. Come learn about various architectural styles seen in New Bedford and build a model of your favorite. Architectural styles include Octagon, Greek Revival, Gothic Revival, and Federal. 5-7pm
• Join the 19th Century Ladies (costumed interpreters) to make old-fashioned kites. 6-8pm
• The New Bedford Preservation Society presents an Architectural Scavenger Hunt, 5:30-8pm. Kids who complete the hunt will receive the Towers, Turrets & Tenements coloring book. Start point: Corson Maritime Learning Center, first floor exhibit space near the elevator.

Toe Jam Puppet Band on the Whaling Museum Plaza! 7:30pm
Toe Jam Puppet Band offers a special brand of interactive children’s entertainment. This dynamic group is great with kids, but best when parents are having fun with their little ones. The performances are very active, encouraging kids and parents to sing and dance along with the band as they entertain with a unique combination of original songs, masterful shadow puppetry, storytelling and just plain old fun.
Pilgrim UCC (634 Purchase Street) Back by popular demand! Root Beer Floats and Children’s Crafts with Margaret Scott Taylor and Russ Chamberlain. 6-8pm

Flags Fly, Lemons Roll…..Join them, 5-7pm, to make your own prayer flags and enjoy a cool and fruity Lemonade Stand.

Celebrating the 10 year anniversary of youth programming with a music & poetry presentation.
Hear the words of youth through poetry and music created in the Creative Careers Program and dance to some pop, folk, funk and soul with special guest performers from the past. 7-8:30pm
• Solstice Skate Jam
• New Bedford Parks, Recreation & Beaches hosts the Carbineer’s Climbing Wall to introduce their summer season! Get a new perspective – see what the parks are doing and climb the wall for great views. All climbing is supervised, helmets and gear provided and beginners welcome. Parents can find out about summer programs at the booth – get a schedule and free stuff for summer fun! 5-7:30pm
• Café Arpeggio Ice Cream Stand
Your Theatre presents “The Strangees”! Unique characters from an island far away & created by former New Bedford resident David King, several of the Strangees will be walking around NB on AHA! night. Be sure to say hello and get further information on Mr. King’s first Strangees book “The Raft”.
Buzzards Bay Coalition (114 Front Street) Bring the kids for a fun and interactive evening at the Wheeler Learning Center. Explore the 3D watershed model, fish tanks, giant sea scallop, sea turtle and seal stuffed animals, and exhibits while hunting for clues in a scavenger hunt! Kids and parents alike can learn about Buzzards Bay and have fun discovering how we can all help Save Buzzards Bay – and even win a prize!!!
New Bedford Free Public Library (613 Pleasant Street) The Early Literacy Coalition presents “Rule This!â€, 5:30-7:30pm. Explore the concept of measurement with hands on activities including life size body tracings, sand & scale play plus a “How Many Jelly Beans in the Jar†contest.
New Bedford Art Museum (608 Pleasant Street) Join staff from District Attorney Sam Sutter’s Office for “Visions of a Healthy Future.â€Â This is a new and personal way to create pictures of New Bedford and the SouthCoast, including a safe summer and a vibrant future, for yourself & your community. 5-6:30pm

Rotch-Jones-Duff House & Garden Museum (396 County Street) Tim Donohue of YOGA KIDS is coming to the RJD to demonstrate his particular style of kid-friendly yoga. Plus old-fashioned lawn games and the Gardens will be open. House will be closed for the evening.
