The International Association of Lions Clubs began during World War I as the dream of Chicago businessman Melvin Jones. He believed that local business clubs should expand their horizons from purely professional concerns to the betterment of their communities and the world at large. That was the beginning of the LIONS (Liberty, Intelligence, Our Nation’s Safety), which quickly expanded around the nation and to other countries. The Quincy Lions Club has been serving the local community for 70 years, fulfilling the Lions Club’s mission of aiding blind and visually impaired residents.
