Day 364 Year of the Dragon Lunar New Year Festival in Quincy MA
The 24th   Annual Quincy  Lunar New Year Festival, presented by Quincy Asian Resources will take place on Sunday February 12th from  10:30-4pm. They will be celebrating the Year of the dragon. The event is free  Visit the new Cultural Village, which will feature activities from various Asian nations that the whole family can enjoy:
The festival is made possible by community organizations. The South Cove Community Health Center is the primary sponsor for the event. Local Asian restaurants will provide food. Youth volunteers from local schools will create decorations and help with planning.
North Quincy High students are creating a 45-foot-long dragon to hang in the building’s atrium on the day of the festival.
Traditional Chinese calligraphy done by students and professionals will be displayed.
New features this year include a scavenger hunt and a wellness area, where guests will be able to learn how to keep themselves and the environment healthy. Games, Crafts, Demonstrations, Entertainment – and as always, you will experience exciting live performances, delicious food from local vendors, and exhibits from community organizations and businesses.

According to ancient legend, Buddha asked all the animals to meet him on Chinese New Year, and he named a year after each of the 12 that came. People born in each year are said to have some of that animal’s characteristics.
