The Whitman-Hanson Education Foundation is a non-profit, 501(c)(3), community-based organization committed to enriching the quality of public education in Whitman and Hanson. Since its incorporation in 2004, the WHEF has awarded grants to enhance educational quality throughout the system. These grants provided funding for innovative classroom projects, development of teaching strategies, special programs, new books and materials, improving technology and more.
Funds for the WHEF’s programs are generated through community contributions, and all monies raised are used to extend public funding for the schools. All donations, in-kind contributions, and volunteer hours are gratefully accepted.
Our focus in the 2011-2012 school year is to support the purchase of technology throughout the District. In addition, the WHEF was proud to support
the cost for the District to have a Chinese teacher from China for the high school students. For 2012-2013 our focus will be primarily on bringing a greater awareness of the importance of fitness and nutrition throughout the District through healthier food choices and the availability of more fitness programs.
