Day 454 New Bedford Working Waterfront Festival 2012
Come learn about commercial fishing  and plus eat some great seafood at the Working Waterfront festival in New Bedford. You will be able to walk the decks of a scalloper, dine on fresh seafood, mend a fishing net as well as watch a Coast Guard rescue demonstration. This free fun family festival be Saturday September 29th 11am-6pm and Sunday September 30th 11am-5pm.Â
2012 THEME
Th e 2012 Festival theme Fishtales: Fact, Fiction and Narrative Tradition in Commercial Fishing Culture will explore enduring myths, local legends, fact and fiction in contemporary fisheries issues.
Man Overboard Demo: Watch a dockside demonstration of how Fishermen on deck must act quickly to rescue a crew member who has fallen overboards year
Wire Splicing Demo Watch experts as they join wire to create cables that are yoused for everyting from towing nets to hauling traps.
Healthy Eating This year Seafood throwdown will challenge chefs to prepare kid friendly seafood using local produce and a surprise seafood ingredient.
Free health screenings Southcoast hospitals will be offering health screenings on Saturday
