Braintree Memorial Day Ceremony

Sunday May 26th  11am 

Observance: 11 a.m. Sunday at the Garden of Honor, Blue Hill Cemetery, 700 West st

 

 

Brockton Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony

Monday, May 27 10:00am

Begins in front of the War Memorial Building, 156 West Elm Street. It continues down Arlington Street to Belmont Street  to Main Street to Crescent Street. The parade will end at VFW Parkway.

 

Canton Memorial day Ceremony

 Sunday May 26th

Observance: 11 a.m. Sunday at Knollwood Memorial Park, Campbell Highlands will perform.

Ceremony: 10:30 a.m. on Knollwood’s East Chapel lawn. At noon, a flag raising ceremony, including the National Guard and Honor Guard and the presentation of a flag to the family of a deceased veteran.

Cohasset Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony

Ceremony: 1 p.m. Saturday May 25th  at Healing Field, with a wreath laying and dedication.

Healing Field: Open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday; an American Legion honor guard will be posted at the field from 8 p.m. Sunday to 6 a.m. Monday.

Breakfast: 7 a.m. Monday May 27th  at the American Legion post on Summer Street for veterans.

Parade: 8 a.m. Monday outside the George H. Mealy American Legion post on Summer Street. Participants will make stops along the parade route at the town’s cemeteries and veterans’ squares, placing American flags on the graves of veterans. Lt. Col. Charles Coe will speak. At noon, the parade will end at Cohasset Veterans Park.

 

Duxbury Memorial Day Parade

Monday, May 27 10:00am

Duxbury Memorial Day Parade and Servies. A reception at the American Legion will follow.

Begins at Myles Standish Cemetery, Chestnut Street and ends at First Parish Church

11:15 services at First Parish Church

 

Halifax Memorial Day Parade

Monday May 27th  9:30 a.m Parade  from the Shelby Plaza along Route 106 to town hall, where ceremonies will be held, including laying of wreaths at 10 a.m.

 

Hanover Memorial Day Parade

Monday, May 27 10:00 am

Starts  at St. Mary’s Church and ends at Town Hall.

 

 

Hanson Memorial Day Parade

Monday, May 27 10:00am

The  Hanson Memorial Day Parade will begin at the Indian Head School with a reading of the Memorial Day Proclamation. The parade will proceed to the Town Hall for a reading of the Gettysburg Address.  The participants will regroup and march to the Fern Hill Cemetery for Memorial Day Ceremony and guest speakers.

 

Hull Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony

Monday, May 27

Begins at  Hull high school and continues to march to the Gold Star Mothers Monument in Hull Village Cemetery.

 

Hingham Memorial Day Ceremony

Monday May 27th 11 a.m.

 

Veterans Memorial Park in Hingham Center. USAF Brig. Gen. Christopher Weggeman will be the principal speaker. In the event of inclement weather, the ceremony will be conducted in Hingham Town Hall’s Sanborn Auditorium.

Kingston Memorial Day Parade

Monday, May 27 10am

Kingston Memorial Day Parade and Ceremonies. Tributes will be made at each War Memorial in town, and a small ceremony will be held at Town Hall at the end of the parade.

 

Marshfield Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony

Monday, May 27 10:30

Begins behind Marshalls in Webster Square, proceeds down Snow Road to Veterans Memorial Park.

 

Milton Memorial Day Ceremony

Monday May 27th 9:30 am

A wreath-laying ceremony at town hall. It will be followed by a march to Milton Cemetery for ceremonies.
Norwell Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony

Monday May 27th 10:30am

The corner of Main and Lincoln streets. Marchers will proceed east on Main Street to the Norwell Veterans Memorial Common, then turn south on River Street and regroup on the common for an 11 a.m. ceremony. A reception at the American Legion will follow.

Pembroke Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony

Monday, May 27 1:00 PM Ceremony at 1:30PM

. Begins at Lucky Dawg and proceeds to Town Memorial Park in Pembroke Center

 

 

Plymouth Memorial day parade and ceremony

Monday May 27th 9:30

Parade: 9:30 a.m. Monday at Shirley Square, proceeds north on Route 3A for wreath-laying ceremonies at war memorials. John Koukol will serve as grand marshal, Dale Whitbeck as parade marshal and Roxanne Whitbeck as master of ceremonies. Afterward, members of veterans organizations and the Bud Band will proceed to the State Pier for a sea dedication ceremony. The Royal Canadian Legionnaires of Georgetown, Ontario, will take part this year. In the event of inclement weather, ceremonies will take place at 10:30 a.m. in Memorial Hall. There will be free parking until noon.

Quincy  Memorial Day Parade,

Monday, May 27 at 10:30 a.m.

Steps off at Quincy Credit Union, 100 Quincy Ave. and proceeds down Hancock Street to Coddington Street and Sea Street to Mount Wollaston Cemetery. The keynote speaker for the Memorial Day Ceremonies at Mt. Wollaston is Lauwrence Norton, president of the Quincy Chapter of the Vietnam Veterans Combined Armed Services.

 

Rockland Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony

Monday, May 27 10 AM

Parade begins on Summit Street and continues to Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. From there it will continue to Union Street and end at the library lawn for a short ceremony.

 

Scituate Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony

Monday, May 27 10:30

From Town Hall down First Parish Road to the Lawson Park. Once at the Lawson Park, the Memorial Day Ceremony will take place at @ 11:15 a.m.

 

Sharon Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony

Decorating veterans graves: 6 p.m. Friday  May 24th at Rock Ridge Cemetery. Volunteers are needed. In the event of heavy rain Friday evening, assembly will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday May 25th

Service: 1:15 p.m. Sunday at Rock Ridge Cemetery. Assemble at the intersection of East and Mountain Streets.

Ceremony: 2:20 p.m. Sunday in front of town hall.
Weymouth Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony

A Vietnam memorial ceremony will be held at Bridge and Neck streets at 11 a.m. Sunday May 26th . At noon, there will be a ceremonial placing of a wreath on the water of the Weymouth Fore River off Wessagussett Beach. A rifle salute and the playing of taps are scheduled for noon on the Great Hill in North Weymouth.

Wreath placement: 8:30 a.m. Monday May 27th  in Columbian Square. At 9:15, a ceremony will be held at the Korean War Memorial in Jackson Square.

Parade:10 a.m. Monday in Jackson Square and proceeds to town hall via Broad Street and Middle Street. The Memorial Day program will be held at 11 a.m. at the Civic Center, next to town hall. In the event of rain, a brief ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. in the Adams School auditorium, 89 Middle St.

 

Whitman Memorial Day Parade

Parade: 9 a.m. Monday from corner of Court Street and Whitman Avenue, proceeds through the center of town and ending at town park. Ceremonies will be held following the parade at the Veteran’s Post 697, 95 Essex St.

 

Each year businesses honor Veterans and Service members by offering Memorial Day  discounts on goods, services, and dining.

Battleship Cove Fall River

Saturday, May 25, 2013 (All day) to Monday, May 27, 2013 (All day)

FREE ADMISSION FOR VETERANS. All active duty, retired and reserve military personnel who show proof of service will be honored with free admission to Battleship Cove.

On Memorial Day, May 27 honor and commemorate the men and women who gave their lives for freedom.  Experience a traditional military observance at 12:00 PM with the raising of the American flag from half-staff and a 21-gun salute.  The ceremony is open to the public.

 

Buttonwood Park Zoo May 25 – 27
On Memorial Day Weekend all active duty, retired and reserve military personnel and their dependents who show proof of served will be honored with free admission to the Zoo.

 Blue Star Museum Free summer admission

Blue Star Museums is offering Free Admission for all active duty military members and their families! This offer is valid from Memorial Day, May 27, through Labor Day, September 2, 2013.

Museum of Fine Arts Boston

Admission to the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston will be free all three days of Memorial Day weekend, the museum announced this week. The free days are the museum’s way to celebrate “Boston I Love,” a special set of exhibitions now on display, community art activities and an opportunity to donate to the One Fund.
