About the Abington’s Lions Club
ON JUNE 15th 1955 The Abington Lions Club was chartered. Â For 58 years now we have been serving our community in any way we can. Â Maybe you have had the pleasure of seeing us in action. Â Have we helped someone you love get the surgery they needed? Â Maybe you personally have had an eye procedure that was made possible by Lions donations. Â Did you know that the Lions International has been donating to eye research facilities for years. Â Almost a million dollars a year in Massachusetts alone goes to eye research. Â Even the simple eye procedures all had to start with a scientist and a good idea. Â We in the Lions Club fund those good ideas! Â Â Maybe your run in with the Lions was a little less dramatic. Â Maybe you went to a pancake breakfast or a spaghetti supper. Â More recently, maybe you participated in our softball tournament or crazy bowl. Â Many of you have been to a Lions comedy night. Â Remember the Fall Festival at Griffins Dairy? Â How about strawberry shortcake at the Night Before the Fourth?
The list goes on and on. Â 58 years is a long time. Â People who are out to do some good things can accomplish an awful lot in 58 years. Â The Lions International have been around since 1917. Â That means when the Abington Lions started, we already had 42 years of experience to tap into. Â Massachusetts Lions are directly responsible for ending certain forms of baby blindness thanks in part to the head start International gave us. Â Imagine what we can accomplish with YOU? Â Your knowledge and life experience combined with our history and energy, and the whole world will hear about what we can do. Â All it takes to become a Lion is to ask us how to join. Â We will help you find a home. Â The club that gets you as a member will be blessed by it. Â You may not even know how you will be able to help us, but we have a way of finding just the right job for every member. Â We keep it fun, we keep it exciting, and we keep it challenging! Â Will YOU take the challenge?
