Day 24 REI Store in Hingham
Iâm not much of a shopper, but this store is a blast. Yeah, they have all the outdoor gear I could ask for, Oh yeah tons of clothing, footwear and outerwear for the out of doors. Lots of books and dvdâs about the out of doors too. I became a member because of the activities though. Thereâs a thirty foot rock wallâ¦right in the store.
Expert staff secure you with simple, but effective belaying equipment and advise you as you climb. Theyâre real patient with my little ones too. Imaging two guys handling 14 8 yr old boys with skill and the kids not only having fun, but listening to them. I was there. I saw it. It happened.
REI in Hingham hosts regular Free Climbing, that means open to anyone, (Cost is $10 for non members and free for memebers) or their âClimb like a Girlâ Club nights too. See their website for a schedule of events and directions: http://www.rei.com/stores/82.
Thereâs still more though. They offer activities like their Passport to Adventure program, designed to make exploring the outside world fun and enticing for youngsters. They also have the PEAK Program, Promoting Environmental Awareness in Kids. The PEAK program is an REI backpack with the gear needed for guided outdoor adventure. Thereâs games, activities and lessons too.
Standby for tomorrowâs post, another treat, right in the same mall.
