South Shore Astronomical Society Norwell

Sharing is caring!

The members of South Shore Astronomical Society can kindly walk you through the use of their insanely strong telescopes.  These guys are the best! Ever seen a star cluster? A Nebula? How about the Galaxy next door, Andromeda?

They’ll show you the various sites to see in the heavens. One of these telescopes sighted on the moon, close up, is amazing and very different from what you see with the naked eye. Let them show you a series of awe-inspiring natural wonders. Attend a viewing night, across the street from the Norwell Council on Aging.  www.ssastros.org.

We will begin our Observing Sessions again (weather-permitting, of course). For the summer months, you may find us on Friday evenings at the Scituate Lighthouse (check here for when we’ll be there.) Additionally, on Saturday evenings near the time of a New Moon, some members will often be found at Centennial Field in Norwell, MA.

Special Programs are our regular scheduled meetings and special programs or special viewing sessions. Unless otherwise noted these programs take place regardless of weather.

Observing Nights are our usual viewing nights. However, we do not guarantee that members will actually be viewing on this date, as cloud cover, other weather conditions and other personal commitments might preclude members from attending. We will make an effort to post notice on the home web page if an event is canceled.

Click here (and then on “Observing Nights”) for potential dates.
