Day 298 South Shore Celebration festival at Marshfield Fairgrounds

The first annual South Shore Celebration is  an event highlighting local food, green products and services, and sustainable living will be held this Saturday October 8th 10-4:30 at the Marshfield Fairgrounds.   The purpose of the Celebration! is to serve as a clearinghouse for information on living sustainably, highlight the many green resources of the South Shore, and to provide a venue for networking among people and organizations who strive to improve our quality of life.

Some of the highlights  include
• Over 50 diverse vendors of local produce, healthy foods, and green products and services.
• Over 15 workshops running throughout the day providing useful information on various aspects of sustainable living such as cooking with local foods, canning, gardening, and home weatherization.
• Kids’ activities such as making products for the home, learning how a cranberry bog works, recycling games
• Delicious, healthy foods for sale
• Informative displays on sustainable living
• A home electronics recycling station
• Electric vehicle display

Parking (and water) is free at the fairgrounds and entry to the Celebration is $3 for individuals and $6 for families. Visitors will find a festive atmosphere full of educational workshops, informational booths and local music. For a nominal fee people may bring their unwanted electronics (including cellphones, computers, microwaves) to be recycled in an environmentally-sound fashion by METECH one of the sponsors of the event. Other major sponsors include Solar City, Mass Environmental Trust, The Green Connection, and South Shore Organics
The centerpiece of the event will include two large tents with over 50 vendors who will either be selling food, products, services and/or providing free information.
