The Plymouth Philharmonic Orchestra will present “American Treasures: Celebrating America’s Veterans” at 8 p.m., Saturday, November  12, at the Duxbury Performing Arts Center. Plymouth Philharmonic  orchestra  concert honors veterans in Duxbury MA

The orchestra  will play Bernstein’s rousing “Candide Overture,” and two living Pulitzer Prize winning composers, George Walker and Jennifer Higdon, will round out this program, which is sprinkled with patriotic songs, including “The Star Spangled Banner” and a medley of all U.S. Armed Forces service hymns. Audience members with military ties will be asked to stand when they hear their hymn played.

NECN and former channel 5 Boston news anchorman Chet Curtis will perform as the guest narrator for Aaron Copland’s Lincoln Portrait, which brings the words of Abraham Lincoln to life.

Tickets prices are $20 to $50, depending on seating. Senior, youth and group discounts are available as well as $5 student “rush” tickets, which are sold at the door one hour before the performance, as available. Advance tickets may also be purchased by visiting plymouthphil.org or calling the Phil office at 508-746-8008.

Karidoyanes hosts a pre-concert talk before at 7 p.m. for any audience members who arrive early.
