Day 338 Holiday Pops Concert in Plymouth MA

Sharing is caring!

The Plymouth Philharmonic Orchestra performs the Holiday Pops, a wonderful program featuring seasonal classics expertly performed by the orchestra Saturday  December 10th and Sunday December 11th. This is a family friendly event!

The orchestra will lead the way through excerpts from Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker ballet and a spirited medley of music culled from such films as Miracle on 34th Street, The Polar Express and Home Alone. The Pilgrim Festival Chorus will join the orchestra in a jazz-waltz rendition of “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year” as well as a collection of Irving Berlin’s holiday songs, including “Happy Holiday,” “I’ve Got My Love to Keep Me Warm” and “White Christmas.” And, to top it off, the Federal Furnace School Treble Chorus, a group of talented Plymouth fourth- and fifth-graders, will sing “Thankful,” made famous by singer Josh Groban. The Treble Chorus will also deliver its moving rendition of a Hanukkah song.

“The Children of the Federal Furnace School Treble Chorus are going to again sing this piece from the movie The Prince of Egypt, ‘When You Believe,’” Karidoyanes added. “It encapsulates, at least in a sonic way, a Hanukkah Hebrew prayer.”
Santa Claus will visit both concerts, especially to lead children in the audience in a march throughout the hall as the orchestra performs “March of the Toys,” from Babes in Toyland. The children are invited to take unwrapped gifts for other children, whom they will never meet, and deposit them in the giant gift box on the hall floor. The gifts will be donated to the Children’s Holiday Fund, operated by the Plymouth Area Coalition If  you who would like to donate the Holiday Fund can call 781-582-2010. Those who would like to apply for assistance can call 781-585-0006.
