Bay Colony productions will be presenting the comedy play Cheaper by the Dozen at the Orpheum Theater in Foxboro over the next two weekends This is a great play that all members of the family will enjoy.
No growing pains have ever been more hilarious than those suffered loudly by the riotous Gilbreth clan. First there are a dozen, freckle-faced kids to contend with. Then there’s Dad, a famous efficiency expert who believes a family can be run just like a factory. Finally there’s Mother, his partner in everything except discipline. How they all survive such escapades as forgetting Frank Jr. in a roadside restaurant or going on a first date with Dad in the backseat will keep you in stitches. You can be sure they’re not only cheaper, they’re funnier by the dozen.  Cheaper by the Dozen is a charming, hilarious comedy with poignant moments we can all relate to, even in this modern age The title comes from one of Frank Sr.’s favorite jokes: it often happened that when he and his family were out driving and stopped at a red light, a pedestrian would ask, “Hey, Mister! How come you got so many kids?” Gilbreth would pretend to ponder the question carefully, and then, just as the light turned green, would say, “Well, they come cheaper by the dozen, you know,” and drive off.  There was movie made in 1950 based on the book. The newer movies that starred Steve Martin only share the title and that there is 12 children.
