Day 477 Rockland Holiday Stroll 2012

The Rockland  Holiday Stroll is scheduled to take place Saturday evening , November  24th 2012 from 4 to 7 p.m. The stroll  will take place from the Rockland Community Center, 394 Union St.,  to the Magoun-Biggins Home

At 4 p.m., Santa and Mrs. Claus will arrive at Biggins Funeral Home at 135 Union St., which will be decorated like the North Pole. The MAD Dancers of Rockland will also appear and perform at that time.

Children are welcome to take free pictures with Santa and they can also drop off any letters for Santa that they might have.

Also, free hayrides will be sponsored by the Rockland Eagles and the Knights of Columbus.

At 5 p.m., the churches in town will be hosting events. The Congregational Church will host “bell-ringers,” the First Baptist Church will offer music and refreshments and Trinity Church will be showing a live Nativity scene.

Stroll-goers are also welcome to stop by the fire station on Union Street, where there will be an open house.

Next to the fire station at a fire pit, town resident Brian White will be making his famous clam chowder, while Steve Murphy & Atlantic Coffee, along with the LNR Corporation, will offer free coffee.
The Christmas tree  will be up at the Rockland Memorial Library , and a new Four Artist Show will be on display. The Friends of the Library will be giving away gingerbread men and candy canes, and selling chances on a beautiful handmade quilt, made and donated by Sallie Martz, and a handmade gingerbread house, donated by a generous patron

Other happenings at the stroll include a K9 demonstration by the Rockland Police Department, “chili, cheer and goodies” served up by the senior center and historical reenactments by the Rockland GAR.

Town Hall, banks and other businesses will be open along Union Street, many of them giving away holiday treats.
