Join Plimoth Plantation for a very special Valentine’s date.  An Evening of Courtly Love is a wonderful and unique opportunity to experience fine food, music and film on Thursday, February 14th!
A delectable dinner will be followed by your choice of a screening of one of our finest independent films or a live performance entitled, An Evening of Courtly Love.
An Evening of Courtly Love is a concert/recital of 17th-century music, dance, poems, plays and love letters. The main theme is guided by Andreas Capellanus’ book, The Rules of Courtly Love, written in 1184. The cast is comprised of Plimoth Plantation interpreters and friends. The performance will include excerpts from the diary of Samuel Pepys, letters from King Henry VIII, music and dance inspired by 17th-century classics and of course, scenes and sonnets from Shakespeare. The evening will be an intimate exploration of the meaning of chivalry, the passions and decadence of the restoration period and the humor and wit of great minds in love.
