Day 569 North River Festival of the Arts 2013 in Marshfield MA

The 37th Annual  North River Arts Society Festival of the Arts will be held on Memorial Day weekend Saturday May 25th and Sunday May 26th 10am-5pm rain or shine.

The very popular Preview Party kicks off the festivities on Friday, May 24 at 7:00 p.m. Awards announcements at 8:00. The public is welcome; $25 advanced purchase (northriverarts.org) or $30 admission fee collected at the door. Full cash bar, live entertainment: The Gathering in the Entertainment tent, and Swing Set inside the G.A.R. Hall. Hearty hors d’oeuvres will also be offered.festi_000

 

– Juried Art & Sculpture & Photography Exhibit, displaying juror-selected paintings, sculpture and photographs.
– Festival Art Sale featuring matted and framed original artwork, prints and photography at very affordable prices!
– A popular Festival Feature: showcasing the work of a number of well-known local artists who donate their time and talent to paint and embellish functional household items offered at silent auction. This year’s feature: jute beach bags!
– Ongoing indoor and outdoor entertainment including dancers, guitarists, singers, and more! Look for street entertainers, too!
– A Children’s Tent offering awesome activities designed specifically for the young ones; a Food Tent offering a wide variety of tasty treats and beverages – and tables to sit and relax while enjoying lunch, a beverage, or a leisurely snack.

SATURDAY 10:45 A.M. – 5:00 P.M. – Paul F. McCarthy, Emcee

1:00 – 3:00 p.m. Drum Circle – Alex Pevzner and a multitude of drummers performing the ancient art

of community drumming (142 Old Main Street). The public is welcome to join in.

1:00 – 3:00 p.m. Steve Marchena – classical, rock, & jazz guitarist (inside the G.A.R. Hall)

1:00 – 3:00 p.m. South Shore Conservatory Sax Quartet – Andrew Fiddler (soprano/alto sax), James

Robotham (alto sax), Nick Mertzger (tenor sax), and Dan Sullivan (baritone sax)

10:45 -11:15 a.m. Alexi Iafrato – MHS junior & aspiring singer –National Anthem & Songs

Over Time “The Band” – A six-piece band dedicated to the musical roots of rock n’

roll, playing the classic tunes from the ’50s, ’60s, and’70s. Dave Matheson

(guitar), Justin Moore (vocals), Rob Shain (keyboard), Dave McCoy (bass,

lead guitar, vocals), Kent Corson (vocals), and Doug Parks(drummer)
