Day 818 Pine Fest Pine Barrens Multicultural Celebration 2014 in Plymouth MA

The Pine Fest—A Pine Barrens Multicultural Celebration will be held on Saturday May 17th from 10am-8pm at Myles Standish State Forest in Plymouth MA. This FREE FAMILY DAY will be a blast for kids and adults .   There will be orienteering, flower preserving, wood sculpture carving, hiking, charcoal making, campfire bread baking, bike safety check (bring your bikes), games, arts and crafts, demos and more!

Special Programs

*Archaeology Discover how the residents of this area, past and present, depended on and interacted with the land.

*Help build an authentic Wampanoag shelter with Jonathan Perry, Aquinnah Wampanoag traditional singer, dancer, speaker and carver.

*Meet Frederick Law Olmstead as portrayed by Gerry Wright.

*Listen to stories told by Big Ryan and his puppets.

*Take a forest history tour, Cranberries and Cannonballs, with DCR Interpreter Amy Wilmot.

The Little Red Smokehouse of Carver will be on hand with great food for purchase.

Campfire: Stay the whole day and then, as the sun falls behind the trees, roast marshmallows around a camp fire while singing camp songs and listening to owl calls.

Find Pine Fest: Pine Fest will be easy to find. Just enter Myles Standish State Forest and follow the Pitch Pine signs to Charge Pond. There’ll be plenty of free parking.

Got Bikes? Bring your bicycles and start at Fearing Pond parking lot with an official safety check-up of your bike. Then follow a guided ride from there to Charge Pond.

Camp! If you like you can spend the night! Camping reservations are available through ReserveAmerica.com.
