From haunted mansions and creepy motels to indoor haunted houses and nighttime trails, there are plenty of options for teens, adults and anyone who thinks they can handle a good scare.
We’ve rounded up haunted houses and scary Halloween attractions on the South Shore and South of Boston for 2026, including some of the area’s longtime favorites.
Some attractions are 18+ or offer special adults-only nights, while others have daytime or lights-on experiences for people who want the Halloween atmosphere without quite as much terror.
Tickets, dates and hours can change, so check with each attraction before heading out. Some of these attractions sell timed tickets and popular October nights can fill up quickly.

👻 Barrett’s Haunted Mansion — Abington, MA

If you’re looking for a scary Halloween night right on the South Shore, Barrett’s Haunted Mansion is one to have on your list.
For 2026, Barrett’s features two haunted attractions: the Haunted Mansion and the Burial Hill Motel, a creepy open-air attraction that replaces the former attraction from previous seasons.
The attractions change from year to year, so even returning visitors can expect something different.
🎃 2026 Highlights
Haunted Mansion + Burial Hill Motel: General admission covers both attractions.
Lights-On Tours: Saturdays in October from 1–4 PM. These behind-the-scenes tours let visitors check out the attractions with the lights on and without actors jumping out at you.
Mayhem at the Mansion: October 20 — an 18+ experience featuring physical contact, separation and darkness.
Devil’s Night: October 27 — an 18+ experience taking place inside the Burial Hill Motel with physical contact and a much more intense experience.
Bite & Fright: On select Thursdays and Sundays in October, you can combine dinner at the Abington Ale House with admission to both attractions for $55.
🎟️ 2026 tickets: General admission is $40 at the ticket window or $43.50 online, including fees. RIP admission is also available for shorter/faster lines.

🏭 Factory of Terror — Fall River, MA
Want to take your Halloween scares up a notch? Factory of Terror in Fall River is housed inside a more than 125-year-old former factory and offers an indoor haunted experience packed with creepy sets, special effects and live actors.
The 2026 season runs September 12 through November 14 on select nights, with the attraction open throughout October and additional dates around Halloween.
Tickets use timed 15-minute arrival windows, and online tickets are discounted from the door price.
👻 2026 Special Event
Factory of Terror: Unhinged takes place November 13 & 14 and is an 18+ only experience featuring adult themes, interactive elements and darker subject matter.

🌲 Dark New England Haunted Trail — Acushnet, MA
Prefer your scares outside?
Dark New England Haunted Trail is bringing its haunted trail experience to Silverbrook Farm in Acushnet for the 2026 Halloween season.
The haunt runs October 2–31, 2026, with Friday and Saturday nights from 6:30–10 PM and Sundays from 6:30–9:30 PM. General admission is $30 plus online fees, with VIP admission available for $45.
There are also Family Friendly Days on October 24 and October 31, when the scares are turned off and visitors can explore the trail during the daytime while learning about the sets, special effects and behind-the-scenes work that goes into the attraction.

Fear Town Haunted House — Seekonk
Fear Town is taking a year off in 2026 and will return in 2027. This massive outdoor haunted attraction at Seekonk Speedway features multiple haunted houses and an outdoor Halloween festival.
👻 Haunted Harbor Boat Tour — Plymouth
Looking for something spooky but a little different from a traditional haunted house?
Set out after dark on a Haunted Harbor Boat Tour in Plymouth and explore the darker side of one of America’s oldest seaports.
The nighttime cruise combines local history, ghost stories and Plymouth legends as you cruise past some of the area’s most recognizable landmarks, including Plymouth Rock, Mayflower II, Burial Hill, Cole’s Hill and Bug Light.
With the harbor, historic landmarks and ghost stories all unfolding after dark, this is a fun choice for adults, couples and older kids who enjoy a good spooky story without a traditional haunted house.

Want to hear about the ghosts of Plymouth after dark?
Twilight Lantern Ghost Tours takes visitors through Plymouth’s historic district while sharing stories of local paranormal activity, legends and some of the area’s most haunted locations.
The approximately 90-minute walking tour includes Town Square, the old courthouse and Burial Hill Cemetery, where visitors can learn about Plymouth’s history, burial traditions and the stories surrounding its reported hauntings.

Witch’s Woods Haunted Hayride
The woods at Nashoba Valley Ski Area have been taken over by the souls of the dead. As you board your hayride, you will notice that your driver sits in the center of the tractor, far away from the sides where guests are vulnerable to attacks. When the wagon pulls into the woods, you might see a witch or two darting in the trees. Although they are overwhelmed by the growing numbers of ghouls, the witches still watch guard over the woods and our guests. Deeper into the woods, you will hear werewolves howling at the moon, and maybe even see one near the hayride, attracted by the scent of human flesh. Zombies are never far behind, and struggle to keep up to your wagon, lured by the tasty feet dangling off the sides. Spirits of dead lumberjacks haunt the woods, ready to cut through anything, including the wooden wagonload of visitors. Unknown creatures crawl in the dark, barely visible but surely advancing on you. You won’t be alone in these woods, will you enter?
Vampire Passage
… Many years ago, 13 heavily armed men were seen carrying a large oblong box into these very woods. The box was tightly wrapped in chains and locks. Legend has it, that it contained the remains of a legendary female Vampire.
Their mission was to take her to a secret trail deep in the woods and burn the evil creature, destroying her reign of terror once and for all! As the sun rose, the authorities found what was left of the men and the shattered pieces of wood and chain. Some say she and her fanged minions roam the trail at night in search of new victims. Hissing and clawing like wild animals, you can hear their unearthly sounds and desire to spread the Vampire’s Curse! Are you brave enough to enter?
Castle Morbid
Will you enter the dark gates of castle morbid? The spirits living in the castle walls have grown in strength and can cast confusion spells on you. Only the strong will survive this medieval journey. Entering the castle, the younger sprites sense your presence and pass through the walls to get near you. Screaming to alert the others, they chase you and each other through the winding halls that fill the castle. The oldest spirits live deep within the castle’s keep, eager for fresh flesh which they will inhabit soon. This castle was once used to keep intruders out, but now the castle serves a different purpose. With the defenses turned in on the spirits of the dead, will you be able to get out alive? * This attraction uses strobe lights for effect.
3d Keeper’s Crypt
Enter a whole new dimension in terror. The walls seem like they are shifting in, the CLOWN numbers multiply, and you’ll have to pass through a gauntlet of animated CHARACTERS to leave these terrifying grounds. * This attraction uses strobe lights for effect.
Horrorwood Chamber of Chills
A terrifying new walk-through highlights past and present horror movie icons with a surprising twist. Come explore the scenes with characters from your favorite Halloween and horror movies. All visitors, even those without admission tickets, are welcome to visit this attraction.
Jack O’Lantern Jamboree
Come see hundreds of professionally carved pumpkins, brought to life in this spectacular display. Jack O’Lanterns are stacked high with bright lights illuminating their faces. The carvings feature famous horror movie characters, and other Halloween icons. Classic faces and silluoutes of Halloween creatures fill the rows in this unique jack o’lantern display. All visitors, even those without admission tickets, are welcome to walk the rows of carved pumpkins and admire these beautiful works of art.

13th World returns Bigger and better than ever before with the scariest and most unique horror trails you will ever encounter!
13th World has featured a new haunt each season for the past 21 years. This year we will bring to life all your favorite characters from the movies and some never before seen.
Set on the lower level of an old ski resort that was closed due to several deaths from a chair lift collapsing, it is said that the people who perished in that deadly accident still haunt the grounds to this day. During the month of October, these evil spirits come out and are ready for blood. Come on down to see if you and your group can survive. For $5 more, you can add the TOUCH OF FEAR.
