Day 316 Doubt Play at Massasoit Community College in Brockton MA

The Broadway  play  Doubt will be presented for two weekends at the Buckley Performing Arts Center on the Brockton campus of Massasoit Community College. There are Friday and Saturday evening performances November 4, 5 & 12 at  8:00 pm and two Sunday matinee performances on November 6 and 13.

The play is set in the fictional St. Nicholas Church School, in the Bronx, during the fall of 1964. It opens with a sermon by Father Flynn, a beloved and progressive parish priest, addressing the importance of uncertainty (“Doubt can be a bond as powerful and sustaining as certainty,” he says).

A must see for any theatre goer, Doubt has won numerous awards: The 2005 Drama Desk Award for Best New Play, The 2005 Lucille Lortel Award for Outstanding Play, The 2005 New York Drama Critics’ Circle Best Play, The 2005 Pulitzer Prize for Drama and The 2005 Tony Award for Best Play.  The play was also made into a movie starring Meryl Streep and Amy Adams  in 2007 and was nominated for an academy award.
