The Natural Resources Trust of Easton (NRT)  is free and open to individuals from the public from dawn to dusk seven days a week for people and their leashed dogs to enjoy The NRT promotes a land ethic in the community through educational programming. The NRT provides leadership, cooperation and networking to others with a similar mission.

The NRT Education Department at Sheep Pasture offers a variety of environmental programs for groups interested in learning more about local ecology. Our on-site and outreach programs are suited for:

All of our programs are adaptable to meet your needs, and can be applicable for all ages. You can either come to us, or we can come to you! Nature adventure birthday parties

Have your child’s next birthday party at the beautiful Sheep Pasture! Every party includes a fun, educational nature adventure program with an NRT naturalist followed by a Carriage House room rental. We offer several party options to give your child the most unique party experience they have ever had! Our professional naturalists will tailor each party to age, group size, and the specific interests of your child. Contact the education department today to design a party just for you!

Our birthday parties are only available to NRT members; a family membership may be added at the time of your booking. All of our parties start with a 45 minute educational program followed by a 45 minute room rental. The birthday child must be turning at least 2 years old.

Where to Walk and Hike and Get Fresh Air on the South Shore Boston

Walking Trails 

Sheep Pasture Walk is a 1.8 mile moderately trafficked loop trail located  that features a river and is good for all skill levels. The walking  trail offers a number of activity options and is accessible year-round. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.

Sheep Pasture Spooktacular

Bring the kids to this family friendly event over the weekend

The Sheep Pasture Spooktacular returns for a fun fall adventure designed for all children and their families! ​Follow our NRT’s Sheep Pasture Facebook page for activity updates, and scroll down for more event details, including admission pricing, parking, and more.
Cost 2024:
$20 per family, for up to five people
Additional people at $5/ person
Admission, food, and any sales are cash only on the day of the event.
Dogs are not allowed at the event. Please do not leave pets unattended in cars in the parking area.
Admission price includes activities, hikes, and presentations, as well as fun treats that children can get from visiting each booth! People of all ages are welcome to attend. Most activities are appropriate for toddlers age 3+ to about age 10, but everyone is welcome to join in.

🍬 Trick-or-Treat Around Sheep Pasture 🍬
Search for candy and treats from booths around Spooktacular – don’t forget to say “Trick-or-Treat”! One treat per child at each booth, please!
🔥 Firepit & S’mores 🔥
Warm up by the fire and roast some s’mores, alongside family and friends at our firepit!
🌲Guided Nature Hikes 🌲
Join our NRT Educators for an adventurous hike into the woods on Sheep Pasture’s trails! Hikes will be accessible and appropriate for all ages, and a full schedule will be posted at the event.
📖 Spooky Story Walk 📖
Enjoy a walk in the woods as you read the story of “The Little Old Lady Who Was Not Afraid of Anything”. Take in the sights and sounds of the forest, and follow the trail to discover each page!
🎨 Face Painting 🎨
Complete your Halloween look at our face painting station! Become a superhero, transform into a tiger, or shine as your very own jack o’lantern!
🦴 Skulls & Stuff 🦴
Explore our collection of animal skulls, pelts, and biofacts with an NRT Educator, and learn more about what makes each animal special! This is a great chance to get up-close and personal with the natural world!
🎃 Pumpkin Decorating 🎃
Paint and decorate your own special pumpkin! Families can bring their own pumpkins, or buy one at Spooktacular. Our Pumpkin Parking Area will help painted pumpkins dry, while you enjoy the rest of Spooktacular!
🖍 Halloween Arts & Crafts 🖍
Make-your-own fall arts and crafts to take home and decorate wit

 

The Spooktacular is an NRT fundraising event, and all admission fees and proceeds directly benefit the annual operations of the NRT of Easton, a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that allows free community access to Sheep Pasture throughout the year. Donations to NRT will be gratefully accepted at any of the activity booths. We appreciate your support of NRT for the community!

​No pets of any kind are allowed at Spooktacular. For everyone’s comfort, please leave pets at home and do not leave them in vehicles in the parking area. Working service animals trained to complete specific tasks for their handlers as defined by the ADA are always welcome.
