Braintree Library  Storytime AT French’s Common Playground  10am   Many of the Summer Storytimes are outside in Braintree Parks. Today, our location will be at French’s Common, by  the playground. French’s Common is across the street from the library. Summer Storytimes continue on Aug 19 at Lincoln Park. Bring a blanket or towel for more comfort. We’ll gather under the shady trees.

July sessions are followed by an “Arts in the Parks” program presented by New England Historic, supported by a grant form Braintree Cultural Council, a local agency, which is supported by Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency.

Abington Library 1030am   Drop-in Toddler Time 
Join Miss Sandy (or Miss Heidi, or Mrs. Grimmett) every Monday morning at 10:30 AM this summer for our drop-in toddler time program! Toddler Time is a 20-minute program consisting of short stories, songs, scarf waving, egg shaking, and a puppet visit. This program is best suited for children ages 0-3. Monday Drop-In Toddler Time is on any Monday we are open. Our Toddler Times are funded by the Friends of the Library. Runs every Monday thru the summer!

Sharon Library Tinker Time 11am  Explore creativity, senses, science and more with fun weekly activities. After a story and song or two, create a craft with your little one. Then explore different sensory stations and early literacy games with other families. Geared towards children ages 18M to 5Y.  repeats Tuesdays all summer long

Japanese Folktales & Origami for Families at Abington Library 2pm Join award-winning storyteller Motoko for an afternoon of Japanese folktales followed by an origami workshop. Motoko begins with delightful folktales from her native Japan, and then provides step-by-step instructions make the ancient Japanese art fun and accessible. Children will learn focus, imagination, and precision while creating pieces of art. This program is geared towards children entering kindergarten and up. Registration is required and begins on July 10th. This program is supported by grant funds from the Institute of Museum and Library Services as administered by the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners.

Hanson Library Preschool Playmates! (Ages 0-5)  4:00 PM – 5:30 PM
Caregivers and children ages 0-5 are invited to a playdate at the Hanson Public Library! Join us anytime between 4:00pm and 5:30pm for some unstructured play featuring puzzles, coloring, train table, activity cube, and more. Drop in for an afternoon of fun and meet some new friends!

 

Braintree Library Pajama Party Storytime with Miss Meghan the Story Lady
Kids are invited to wear pajamas to “Pajama Parties Storytimes” on Tuesday evenings.Tonight is the first one, presented by Miss Meghan, the Story Lady. There will be stories, music and movement. Then children can make a craft to take home. Come Jammie Jam at the library.  Best for ages 2 1/2 – 4, but open to all children.  Miss Meghan will continue “Pajama Parties/Jammie Jams Storytimes”on Tuesday evenings at 6:30 through July 30 .

Quincy Library Puppet Tales with Leigh Ages 3+  11am  Join us at the Main Library where Through Me To You Puppetry invites you to join Newton and his puppet friends for some storytime fun!  Newton and his friends take turns reading stories and singing songs with the kids. At the end of the show, the kids are invited to say “hi” to Newton. Our weekly half-hour show is geared to ages 3-7, but all are welcome!

Quincy Library  Children’s Concert with Tom Sieling Ages 0-3 10am
Join us on Thursday, August 1st at 10:00 for a concert with Tom Sieling. This special concert full of familiar tunes is especially geared toward infants and toddlers but will be enjoyed by preschoolers as well.  Tom has delighted tens of thousands in over thirty years of performing accompanying himself on guitar, banjo, and harmonica adding a drum machine to keep things upbeat and easy to move to. At the end of the program there will even be a chance for the kids to get a quick try playing the instruments if they’d like.

Puppet Storytime with Leigh and Friends at Cohasset Library 1030am    Join us under the tent for big book adventures, puppet, music and more! Funded by the Friends of the Cohasset Library.

Are you traveling  this summer  and got a toddler/preschooler –this travel tray is perfect for the car or airplane 

Sharon Library at  Crescent Ridge Story Time! (All Ages)  11am Join us for some story time fun outside this summer. We will read books, sing songs, play games, and more! Registration is not required but encouraged so you get notifications about weather related cancelations. This story time will be outside in the sun so remember your sunscreen! Feel free to bring a blanket, chairs, picnic and whatever else will keep you and your little ones comfortable. In the event of bad weather, Story Time will be moved to the Community Room at the Sharon Public Library. Announcements will be made here in the calendar, via email, and on social media if it is moved indoors.  Story time will be held in the field next to the diary bar. Look for the goats and white tent.  Repeats every Thursday all summer

Abington Library Rainforest Reptiles 1115am Educators from Rainforest Reptiles return to the library on August 1st! A real-life Herpetologist will be at the library to talk about the life and habitat of four tropical or semi-tropical rainforest reptiles. Everyone will get a chance to see a tortoise, tegu lizard, a boa constrictor or python, and an alligator! This program is for kids entering kindergarten and up. Registration is required and begins on July 17th. We require walk-in registration for the first three days and will begin taking sign-ups over the phone or email on Monday, July 22nd. This program is funded by the Friends of the Library

Alden House Duxbury tours 12-4pm

Sing with Steve Swinburne at Bridgewater Library 1pm   Join Steve Swinburne, author of Giraffe Math, Big Truck Super Wash and many others, for this fun program!  Learn about sea turtles, giraffes and other critters and join him for a sing-a-long as he plays his ukulele!  All ages welcome!  Registeration required

LEGO Building @ Wollaston Ages 5+ at Wollaston Library 2-4pm
Stop by the Wollaston Branch on Thursday afternoons this summer for free-play LEGO building. Grab some LEGO bricks and build a boat, a spaceship, a double-decker couch – anything you want, then toss them back and try to make something else. LEGOs must be returned by the end of the program, sorry!  Parents please note regular LEGO are intended for children ages 5 and older, DUPLO and other building toys will be available for younger children.  Repeats Thursdays July & August

Little ones, ages infant to four, can enjoy Duplos, extra Train Tracks and Train Table , MagnaTiles, and puzzles.   There will be board games out for school age children as well

Storytime in the Summer Field with   Holbrook Library 1030am Let’s get outside and enjoy the nice weather! Join us every Friday morning at 10:30 in the gazebo at the Sumner Field Playground beginning June 21st. Enjoy stories, music, movement, and various outdoor activities with your little ones.  Storytime is perfect for toddlers and preschoolers, but every age can get something great out of Storytime!

Sharon Library  at Borderland State Park Story Time  12:30—1:30 PM   Join us for story time at Borderland State Park every other Friday this summer! We will gather at the picnic area next to the visitor center and parking lot. Bring anything you need to be comfortable outside. You can even bring a picnic if you would like!  Walk-ins are welcome, but we recommend registering so you can receive weather related updates.

Quincy Library  Poop Museum 230pm   Children ages 5 and older who want to learn more about poop are invited to join Susie Maguire on Friday, August 2nd at 2:30 for a presentation of the Poop Museum.  The Poop Museum is the place to come for those who are curious and have questions about poop, and also, if like Susie Maguire, they LOVE poop, and think it’s fascinating!  Susie is a poop expert who thinks poop is THE most interesting subject in the world. She has  studied poop for years and loves nothing more than sharing her expansive knowledge of poop  with the people of the world.
