Top 10 LEGO sets for preschoolers
Reading Games for First Graders at Braintree Library 2pm READING GAMES to play. Best for those going into First Grade, or finishing First Grade, but open to all children. No registration needed. Held in Logan Auditorium. Statewide summer reading programs are supported by the Massachusetts Library System, the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners and the Boston Bruins, with funding from the Institute of Museums and Library Services. The Thayer Public Library Summer Reading Program is additionally supported by local sponsors: Starland Sportsplex (Hanover), and Altitude Trampoline Park (Avon).
Buildwave Quincy’s Addams Shore Library ages 5+ 6pm
5 and older are invited to join Buildwave, hands-on building game, at the Adams Shore Library on Monday, July 28th at 7:00pmBoost your child’s STEAM interest with Buildwave— a building event that feels like a gameshow! During the event, participants, adults and children together, build with waves of diverse materials like Lego, Plus-Plus, and more. Each building wave is enhanced by a dynamic audiovisual experience unlike any other. As participants complete wave after wave of building, they gain creative confidence, enhance teamwork, and experience design fundamentals in a unique and memorable context.

Summer Science with Tidmarsh: Wrackline Wonders in Plymouth 10am-12pm Come to the Manomet Branch to cool off with a Mass Audubon educator and learn about the fascinating science of the where we live! Kids will listen to a quick breakdown of a topic about local science and then either make a craft, play a game, or get to interact with some live animals afterwards. Topics are youth-friendly and designed for kids 3 and older. Today’s topic is: Coastal creatures. Explore the sand and meet the cool critters who live at the beach!

Puppet Tales with Leigh @North Quincy Library 10am Ages 3+ Join us at the North Quincy Library where Through Me To You Puppetry invites you to join Newton and his puppet friends for some storytime fun! Newton and his friends take turns reading stories and singing songs with the kids. At the end of the show, the kids are invited to say “hi” to Newton. As junior paleontologists, children will excavate fossils and engage in discussions about various extinction theories while learning fun facts about the creatures that once roamed the Earth. Braintree Inter-generational Board Game Fun! 1pm Children ages 5 -12, Families and Elders are invited to an Intergenerational Board Game Fun. Come for fun! Come meet new people! It will be held at Braintree’s Senior Center, located at 71 Cleveland Avenue. The library will bring children’s games that the elders and children can play together. Create and Play: Memory Master (Grades K+) at Hanson Library 1pm
This summer, become a memory master! Kids will design and craft their very own memory match game to take home and play with family and friends. Using colorful materials and their imaginations, participants will design themed card pairs (like animals, food, or outer space!), and test their creations in a friendly match-off. It’s a hands-on, brain-boosting activity perfect for sparking creativity and sharpening focus—all while having tons of fun! Each child goes home with a custom-made game they created themselves!

hanson Library Player One: Create Your Video Game Twin (Ages 6-10) 4:30—5:30 PM Children will create a video game character based on themselves. Partnering with a caregiver, they will brainstorm characteristics, traits, and a story about their character, with discussion and prompts led by a certified wellness life coach. Children will leave this event with more self-confidence in their own character and traits as well as skills in creative storytelling.
